Lady Duracell / Dj
Lady Duracell shows
In August 1999, Lady Duracell stood in Es Paradis (Ibiza) and made a decision that would completely change her life. When she returned to the UK, she borrowed a pair of Technics 1210’s from her friend DJ Chill, and for the next few months took every opportunity to teach herself to mix. Her dedication and late nights paid off, and within 6 months she had landed her first radio show, and played at the legendary Strawberry Sundae to 1500 people – where she later landed a weekly residency. Over the last 20 years she has played on some of London’s highly respected underground radio stations, such as Passion FM and PushFM and is now currently holding down a regular show on Beach Radio – Get Lifted Sundays, showcasing her signature smooth style of deep, soulful, afro house music.
As well as playing for some of the best house music brands and alongside the world’s major players, she created the Get Lifted brand in 2005, the parties podcast and radio shows. Get Lifted was invited to join forces with My Fairytale and Precious People both at Pacha, and then in conconjunction with Roger Sanchez’ Release Yourself party at Koko, and with the Swedish House Mafia, Axwell, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso, again at Koko.
In 2007 Lady Duracell was asked to choose & mix the backing track music for one of Nell McAndrew’s highly acclaimed fitness DVD’s – Cardio, Core and Stretch. This coincided with the release of Es Paradis on vinyl, which broke into the Top 10 selling records in HMV on Oxford Street, and was included in the DVD. Over the years LD has been a DJ tutor and mentor and has written for online magazines.
Lady Duracell has a collaboration with new clothing / accessories store – Jack Fresh Online. An exciting, brand new concept in apparel, which includes the Get Lifted range, and bringing ideas to the design team.
After her incredible achievements as a DJ, Lady Duracell decided to take some time out to explore other aspects of the music business, and to put her energies into the Get Lifted podcast and radio shows. This is her way of connecting with like-minded people, a strong loyal fan base in the UK, USA, South Africa and right across the globe. Her unique natural affinity for music selection is the driving force that keeps her connected to her fans, and the mutual love of house music keeps them on the ride.
“The best part about this whole journey? The friends for life that I’ve met along the way, through this mutual love of house music. This is a passion for life…”. ~ LD
